Gopher Softball Kicks off Fall Ball

This past weekend the Minnesota softball team played host to St. Cloud State and Minnesota Duluth in a pair of fall ball doubleheaders at Jane Sage Cowles Stadium. The Gophers looked to be in spring season form as they prepare for the upcoming 2019 season. Game one of each doubleheader was played with a regular game format while game two was situational based in which each inning started with select runners at select bases. Minnesota concludes fall ball action on Friday, Oct. 5 as they take on Concordia St. Paul in doubleheader action beginning at 5 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 28 vs. St. Cloud State
Notables:

Maddie Houlihan ripped three doubles and tallied four RBIs
Hope Brandner making her unofficial debut in a Gophers uniform smashed a home run in her first at bat.
Amber Fiser picked up the start throwing four innings of work.
The Gophers produced 15 runs on 13 hits in the seven inning game.

Saturday, Sept. 29 vs. Minnesota Duluth
Notables:

Ellee Jensen went 4-for-5 in the lead off spot with three runs and two RBIs
Taylor Chell went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and three RBI
Katelyn Kemmetmueller blasted a three-run home run.
Sydeny Smith went five innings collecting four strikeouts.
Hannah Bailey threw two innings of relief facing the minimum number of batters along with two strikeouts.
The Gophers scored 21 runs on 22 hits in the seven inning game.
