Gophers Climb Two Places to No. 21

After winning the Roy Griak Invitational, Minnesota comes in at No. 21 in the nation in this week's USTFCCCA National Coaches' Poll.

MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota women's cross country team is up two places to No. 21 in the nation according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Coaches' Poll after winning the 2018 Roy Griak Invitational last weekend. 

The Big Ten Conference has six teams ranked among the nation's top 30 in No. 8 Wisconsin, No. 10 Michigan, No. 11 Indiana, No. 14 Michigan State, No. 19 Penn State, and No. 21 Minnesota. Ohio State received three votes this week as well.

No. 1 Colorado, No. 2 Boise State, No. 3 New Mexico, No. 4 Oregon, and No. 5 Stanford make up the nation's top five teams in the week four poll.

Along with climbing to No. 21 in the national rankings, the Gophers maintained the No. 2 spot in the Midwest Region in the USTFCCCA Week Four Regional Rankings. Iowa State remains the region's top team; Oklahoma State, Northwestern, and South Dakota round out the top five teams in the Midwest Region rankings.

The next USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll is set to come out Tuesday, Oct. 16, and the week five regional rankings are set to be released on Monday, Oct. 15.
