Kellar Among Top-15 After First Round in Vegas

BOULDER CITY, Nev. - Sophomore Grace Kellar completed 18 holes in one-under par to lead the Minnesota women's golf team on the opening day of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown, hosted by UNLV at the Boulder Creek Golf Club.

Kellar's 71 tied for 13th place, five strokes behind Tulsa's Olivia Jackson who leads the field with an opening round 66. Freshman Karen Zhang is tied for 50th place after a 4-over par 75, with sophomore Kate Lillie one stroke behind in a tie for 63rd. Classmate Joanne Free is trailing her by one stroke, among a tie for 74th with a 5-over par 77. Senior Muyu Wu rounded out the Gopher lineup and is tied for 84th at 8-over par 80.

Oregon State holds the team lead (-8, 280), while Minnesota is tied for 15th at 11-over-par 299.

The Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown continues Monday, with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start scheduled.
