Gophers Open the Barn Doors at Maroon & Gold Scrimmage

On Sunday afternoon, the Minnesota men's basketball team welcomed fans to Williams Arena for the annual Maroon & Gold intrasquad scrimmage. Featuring numerous in-game trades and a four-quarter, 24-minute game format, the Maroon defeated the Gold, 64-52.
Junior Amir Coffey was the game's leading scorer, pouring in 22 points on 8-of-11 field goal shooting. He also tied the lead with four assists, helping lead the Maroon team which also saw double-digit scoring from senior Jordan Murphy and freshman Daniel Oturu, who added 18 and 11 points, respectively. Leading the way for the Gold team was redshirt senior Matz Stockman, as he scored 19 points along with a game-high seven rebounds.
All of the available Gopher players saw the court, as senior Dupree McBrayer (family emergency) and redshirt sophomore Eric Curry (injury) did not play.
After the game, the Gophers greeted their fans with an autograph session on the Williams Arena concourse.
The 2018-19 season gets underway Thursday night at Williams Arena with an exhibition against Minnesota Duluth, with tip-off scheduled for 7 p.m. Minnesota's first official action comes five days later, as the Gophers host Omaha on Tuesday, November 6 at 7:00 p.m.
