Bockin Named to First Team All-Region

The United Soccer Coaches organization has recognized forward April Bockin as a member of the 2018 NCAA Division I Women's First Team All-North Region after an outstanding senior campaign. Bockin is one of 14 women given such an honor and is joined on the team by only three other forwards.
Her 13 goals, seven assists and five game-winners were major contributions to Minnesota's victory in the Big Ten Tournament as well as the team's win over Auburn in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Bockin's seven assists this season put her at 27 assists during her career and third all-time in program history. She also goes down in the Gophers' record-book as eighth all-time in points with 79 as well as sixth all-time in game-winning goals (nine).
This is not the only season-honor for the Eden Prairie, Minn. native. Bockin earned spots on the First Team All-Big Ten, the Big Ten All-Tournament Team and the CoSIDA/Google Cloud Academic First Team All-District. She also claimed the Big Ten Forward of the Year award and was named the Big Ten Tournament Offensive Most Outstanding Player after netting all three of Minnesota's tournament goals including a penalty kick in the final match.
Due to her inclusion on the CoSIDA/Google Cloud Academic First Team All-District, Bockin is on the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third team (if necessary) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
