STARTING FIVE
• The Minnesota men's basketball team returns to the Twin Cities for a neutral-court matchup with Oklahoma State Friday night in the inaugural U.S. Bank Stadium Basketball Classic. It is the first of a two-year neutral-site series, with a game at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla., slated for 2019.
• The Gophers finished a 3-0 trip to the TCL Vancouver Showcase, earning wins over Texas A&M, Santa Clara and Washington. It marks the second straight year the Gophers have gone undefeated in an MTE event (2017 Barclays Center Classic). Prior to that, Minnesota last went undefeated in an MTE tournament in 2010 at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
• Guard Gabe Kalscheur was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday. Last week, Kalscheur averaged 14 points, 2.7 rebounds and one steal per game, including a career-high 25 points in the win over Santa Clara. He also made the game-winning 3-pointer in the victory over Washington to claim the tournament championship.
• Senior forward Jordan Murphy has earned some impressive accolades leading into the start of the season. The San Antonio, Texas native was a Preseason All-Big Ten Team selection as well as named to the Naismith Trophy, John Wooden Award and Lute Olson Award watch lists for top college basketball player in the nation, as well as the Karl Malone Award watch list for the top power forward in the country.
• Murphy became the program's all-time leading rebounder on Nov. 20 in the win over Santa Clara. Murphy passed Mychal Thompson's record of 956 which stood for more than 30 years. He stands at 983 rebounds. Murphy also has 50 career double-doubles (including five this year), needing one more to tie Jim Brewer's school record of 51.

SCOUTING THE COWBOYS
• Oklahoma State is 4-2 on the year including a win over then-No. 19/21 LSU, 90-77, at the AdvoCare Invitational in Orlando. That victory earned them a third-place finish after defeating Memphis and falling to Villanova.
• Cameron McGriff, who was named to the AdvoCare Invitational All-Tournament Team, leads the Cowboy offense averaging 16.8 points per game along with team-high 7.0 rebounds per contest. He is one of five OSU players to average double figures.
• Freshman Isaac Likekele is one of just five true freshmen in the country averaging 8.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.

GRIDIRON TO HARDWOOD
• Friday's game will be the fifth Gopher basketball game to be played in an NFL stadium, and the second regular season contest.
• Minnesota is 2-2 in previous games played at NFL stadiums.
• The last Gopher game at an NFL venue was in 2008 when Minnesota defeated Louisville, 70-64, in the Stadium Shootout at Glendale, Ariz., at University of Phoenix Stadium (now known as State Farm Stadium), home of the Arizona Cardinals.
• Minnesota also lost to Kentucky in the 1997 Final Four at the RCA Dome in Indianapolis, home of the Colts, a game that was later vacated.
• Finally, the Gophers went 1-1 at the Superdome in New Orleans in 1990, defeating Syracuse in the Sweet 16 before falling to Georgia Tech in the regional final.
• This weekend's events are the first basketball games to be played at the two-year old U.S. Bank Stadium, home of the 2019 Final Four.

GOPHERS IN THE METRO
• Since Williams Arena opened in 1928, the Gophers have played 15 games in the Twin Cities region that did not take place under the iconic arched roof of The Barn.
• Minnesota is 15-0 in those games, with two later vacated.
• The Gophers are 4-0 in games at Target Center (1996 and 1997 vacated), home of the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves.
• At the Met Center, the former home of the NHL's Minnesota North Stars in Bloomington, the Gophers amassed an 11-0 record.

GOPHERS VS. THE BIG XII
• Minnesota has a 39-33 record against the current membership of the Big XII, excluding vacated games.
• Series records against Big XII schools are as follows, excluding vacated games: Iowa State (18-11), Kansas (1-1), Kansas State (9-6), Oklahoma (4-4), Oklahoma State (3-3), Texas (0-1), TCU (2-0), Texas Tech (1-5), West Virginia (1-2).
• Friday's game marks the fifth Power Five opponent of the year for the Gophers, and will signify competition against each of the other four power conferences (ACC, Big XII, Pac-12, SEC).
