Scobee Earns WCHA Weekly Honors

After a 30-save shutout against Robert Morris, junior Sydney Scobee is this week's WCHA Goaltender of the Week.
MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota junior Sydney Scobee has been named the WCHA Goaltender of the Week, Powered by GoodWood Hockey, after leading the No. 2 Golden Gopher women's hockey team to a 5-0 win over Robert Morris to cap off the first half of the season on Saturday. Scobee picks up her first WCHA weekly award of her career after earning a 30-save shutout over the Colonials.
After Alex Gulstene backstopped Minnesota to a 6-1 win over Robert Morris in game one of the team's non-conference series, Scobee earned her second career shutout for the Maroon & Gold in game two. Scobee's shutout included keeping the Colonials scoreless on three power plays. Among WCHA goaltenders, Scobee earned the only shutout of the weekend and led the league with a perfect 0.00 goals against average and 1.000 save percentage. She was one of five goaltenders with a perfect winning percentage for the weekend.
Nationally, Scobee was one of three NCAA goaltenders to record a perfect 1.000 save percentage and 0.00 goals against average and was one of eight goaltenders to earn a shutout over the weekend.
Scobee and the Gophers now have three weekends off from competition for the holiday break. The Gophers return to action in 2019 by hosting the Minnesota Cup on Saturday, Jan. 5 and Sunday, Jan. 6 when the Maroon & Gold welcomes Minnesota State, St. Cloud State, and Minnesota Duluth to Ridder Arena for the four-team tournament.
