Q&A with Brock Stull

12/14/2018 10:34:00 AM | Men's Basketball

This Q&A originally appeared in the Minnesota basketball game day program on Nov. 6, 2018. Interview by Tommy Sletten, Athletic Communications Student Assistant.

Name: Brock Stull
Class: Redshirt Senior
Major: Master's in Sport Management

Gopher Sports: As a transfer how has your adjustment been coming to Minnesota from UW-Milwaukee?

Brock Stull: Ever since I got here, it's been great. I'm excited to be a part of the Gopher family. I started school in September, so all summer I was working out by myself so I could stay in shape. Coming here has been unreal.

GS: What attracted you to the University of Minnesota?
BS: It was nice having a relationship with coach (Rob) Jeter,  who I originally committed to at Milwaukee. On my visit here, I felt comfortable with the rest of the coaching staff, which is a big deal to me because there is a life after basketball and having these connections will help you in the long run.

GS: What do you see in your life after basketball?
BS: I see myself going down the coaching route eventually. The coaching tree that Coach Pitino, Conroy, and Jeter have is something that you can really learn from. I'd like to work with college players because of the age and helping athletes grow. Seeing how far I have come in my four years, and I want to help others do the same, that attracts me.

GS: What is your goal for the season?
BS:I haven't been to the tournament yet, so that's probably my biggest one.

GS: What have you liked about the culture surrounding the team?
BS: I think the goals that my teammates have is kind of like a business. Right now, everyone is focusing on improving and making the tournament or winning the Big Ten. We all believe we have that talent to do it, it's just a matter of coming together and doing it.

GS: What do you like to do off the court, when you're not playing basketball?
BS: I like playing video games. I like Fortnite and the new Red Dead Redemption 2. Red Dead is awesome, I've been on it night and day. Sleep schedule takes a hit from basketball and the game, but it's a ton of fun. With guys on the team, whoever really has a PlayStation and is down to get on, I'm always down to play together.
