The WCHA has announced a 2019 tournament partnership with GELSTX for the Minnesota Cup and WCHA Final Faceoff.

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The WCHA has announced a 2019 tournament partnership with the innovative, weighted training stick company GELSTX for the inaugural Minnesota Cup in January and the 2019 WCHA Final Faceoff. Both tournaments will take place at Ridder Arena.

The 2019 Minnesota Cup, Powered by GELSTX, was introduced this year as part of the WCHA's 20th Anniversary season. The two-day, four-team event, to be played at the University of Minnesota's Ridder Arena on Jan. 5-6, features Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota State, St. Cloud State, and the host Gophers. Tickets are available directly through the Gopher Sales & Service Department, in-person at 3M Arena at Mariucci (during regular office hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT, Monday-Friday), via phone at 612-624-8080 or online (certain fees may apply).

"We are incredibly excited to introduce GELSTX to the WCHA community and to our 2019 tournaments," said WCHA Vice President and Women's League Commissioner Katie Million. "From the professional ranks to college hockey and the international game, GELSTX has proven to be a game-changer for athletes training at every level. As the WCHA continues to remain at the forefront of the hockey world, I cannot think of a better partner to power the inaugural Minnesota Cup!"

GELSTX, a weighted training hockey stick infused with STICKGEL patented Gel Polymer, adds evenly distributed weight throughout, while retaining the integrity of a stick's flex, kick point and profile. This, while building the sticks to the individual players specs, including curve pattern, flex, and lie. Used by athletes, trainers, and coaches at all levels of hockey, GELSTX maximizes the development of a player's shot velocity without jeopardizing accuracy, improves stick handling, passing and shooting skills, all while utilizing and strengthening hockey specific muscles.

"We're excited to partner with the WCHA, and be part of the fabric of such a storied league," said GELSTX Founder and President Josh Miller.

"At the core of our motivation surrounding women's hockey is to be a driving force in growing the game. For us, as a brand, we are very specific in who we align ourselves with, and are thrilled to support the endeavors and events of the WCHA that impact so many female student-athletes," said GELSTX Founder and CEO Jason Silver.

The premier conference tournament in women's college hockey, the 2019 WCHA Final Faceoff, to be supported by GELSTX, will crown the postseason champion of the league's 20th Anniversary Season. The league's showcase event and the best weekend of the year for women's college hockey fans, the two-day 2019 WCHA Final Faceoff championship tournament will be held March 9-10, also at Ridder Arena. The event will feature the 2018-19 WCHA regular season champion along with the three winning teams from the league's best-of-three, quarterfinal-round playoff series (March 1-3), and tickets are on sale now.
