FINAL RESULTS

Shane Wiskus took four top-six finishes at the USA Gymnastics Winter Cup Challenge and was selected to represent Team USA on the Senior National Team.

"I'm so thankful for the coaches who got me here," Wiskus said. "It's been a long journey and I finally made it. It's a dream come true."

Wiskus will be one of 12 members to represent the Senior National Team through the 2018 U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Boston, Aug. 16-19, according to usagym.org.

"What a great year it's been for Shane," head coach Mike Burns said. "He's a real force to be reckoned with and making the Senior National Team as a freshman is a testament to where he is and what awaits him and the entire Gopher gymnastics program moving forward."

Wiskus, Tristan Duran and Shaun Herzog all represented the University of Minnesota at the Winter Cup finals and combined for six top-10 finishes. All three competed all-around on both days of the USA Gymnastics competition.

Wiskus took ninth with a 162.900, Duran finished 15th with a 155.700 and Herzog was 16th with a 153.800.

"So proud of these three guys who represented the U in such a solid fashion," Burns said. "I was especially happy to see Shaun Herzog have the success he had on the national stage. Tristan was steady throughout, in spite of being sick throughout the whole weekend. Very proud of the way these guys fought all night long."

A combined high bar total of 27.400 (14.100, 13.250) gave him a fourth place finish on the event. The Spring Park, Minn. native finished with a 13.800 on p-bars on day two. He took fifth on the event with a 27.800 two-day total. His 26.800 two-day total on still rings was good for a sixth place finish. He also greatly improved on vault.
