Minnesota Falls to Houston In Head-to-Head Match

SPRING, Texas -- The Minnesota men's golf team lost to the University of Houston today in a head-to-head matchup at the Augusta Pines Golf Club in Spring, Texas.
The Gophers notched a team score of 382, while Houston scored 357 on the par-72 course. The tournament was played in a six-count-five format, with six golfers competing but keeping only the lowest five scores per team. Each team also had two players competing as individuals.
Rúnar Arnorsson led the Gophers in the individual competition, tying for fourth with a score of 73. Thomas Longbella wasn't far behind, tying for eighth with a score of 75. Peter Jones, playing as an individual, also tied for eighth with a score of 75.
Riley Johnson and Evan Long tied for 11th, each scoring 77 for the day. Angus Flanagan finished directly behind in 13th, hitting 80.
Alex Uloth, playing as an individual along with Jones, came in 14th with a score of 81. Charlie Duensing, the final Gopher, finished in 15th, shooting 82.
Houston golfer Matt Williams finished first overall, with a 4-under score of 68 in the single round of 18 holes.
The Gophers will be back in action next weekend at the Tiger Invitational in Opelika, Ala.
