Final Stats

ORLANDO, Fla. - No. 22 Minnesota (9-4) used dominated performances from their starters in the circle en route to a pair of wins on day two of the Citrus Classic at the ESPN Wide World of Sport Complex. Amber Fiser tossed a one-hitter in six innings of work while recording nine strikeouts, one shy of her career high, to defeat Bradley 4-0. In game two, Carlie Brandt took efficiency to a whole new level surrendering two hits in six innings of work while only throwing 63 pitches.

At the plate, Minnesota was led by Erika Rozell who went 5-for-7 as the number six hitter. Rozell was an affective 3-for-3 in the game one victory against Bradley. Sydney Dwyer was the long ball specialist collecting home runs in each game to tally a three RBI day.

Game one | No. 22 Minnesota 4, Bradley 0
Sophomore left hander Amber Fiser took a no-hitter into the top of the sixth before allowing a single that just snuck through the left side. Fiser threw six scoreless innings picking up her sixth win of the season.

It did not take long for the Gophers to get on the board as Kendyl Lindaman picked up her fifth home run of the year on a line shot over the right center wall for an early 3-0 lead.

Fiser went to work striking out seven of the first 14 hitters faced while only allowing two walks. Dwyer assisted the Gophers cause adding an insurance run in the fourth with a two-out solo shot to make it 4-0.

Freshman hurler Hannah Bailey came out of the bullpen to get the Gophers through the seventh inning. A two-out double by Stacia Seeton kept the Braves hopes alive, but fans saw no panic from Minnesota. The following batter Allison Apke singled to right in what looked to extend the Bradley inning, but Seeton tested the arm of Maddie Houlihan in right on a play at the plate and Houlihan won the battle following a tag by Rozell for the third out.

Game two | No. 22 Minnesota 5, Lehigh 1
There was not much different between game one and two except for the score and the Gophers starting arm in the circle. For the second straight game a Minnesota starter took a no-hitter in to the sixth inning, this time it was sophomore Carlie Brandt. Brandt allowed just one run, which was unearned, on two hits while striking out three.

Once again Minnesota took no time in getting on the scoreboard. Picking up her second home run of the day was Dwyer sending a bomb to right center for an early 2-0 lead.

Sending eight hitters to the plate in the second the Gophers put another crooked number on the board. MaKenna Partain's double to right scoring Allie Arneson and Elle Jensen, who lead off the inning with back-to-back doubles, gave Minnesota a 4-0 lead.

Retiring the first 11 hitters, Brandt did not allow a base runner until the fourth inning after surrendering a two-out walk. Lehigh was at the doorstep of scoring in the fifth following back-to-back Minnesota fielding errors but the Gophers, buckling down on defense, used a pair of ground outs to work out of the jam.

The Mountain Hawks tallied their first run of the game in the sixth as a leadoff hitter Nicole Yozzo used a bunt single and a throwing error to end up at third. Yozzo scored three batters later on a single up the middle.

The Gophers added an insurance run in the seventh before Rachel Lowary made her Minnesota debut in the circle. The freshman, despite allowing a leadoff walk, retired the next three hitters including a strikeout.
