STARTING FIVE
• The University of Minnesota men's basketball team travels to Indiana for a rare Friday night conference tilt. It's the first time the Gophers are playing a regular-season Big Ten game on Friday since Dec. 31, 2010, a 71-62 loss at Michigan State.
• Freshman guard Isaiah Washington was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week on Monday after a pair of career-high scoring performances in road losses at Iowa and Michigan.
• Steadily climbing up the career charts, junior Jordan Murphy recently crossed the 1,000-point mark and entered Minnesota top-10 list for rebounds. Murphy has pulled down 854 boards in his nearly three years as a Gopher, good for fifth place (4th - Richard Coffey, 904). Murphy is leading the team averaging 17.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game - the latter statistic atop the Big Ten and fifth in the nation as well. He also ranks second in the country in offensive rebounds (4.4) per game, as of Feb. 8. Murphy leads the country with 21 double-doubles -- the most in Gophers single-season history. On Tuesday he tied Mychal Thompson's record of 21, set in the 1975-76 season.
• Both Murphy and senior Nate Mason are also moving up the career scoring charts. Mason has moved into seventh place with 1,625 points (6th: Kevin McHale - 1,704) while Murphy ranks 24th, scoring 1,203 points (23rd: Jim McIntyre - 1,223).
• Nate Mason ranks 11th in the country and third in the Big Ten in assist/turnover ratio at 3.2. He is also the conference's ninth-leading scorer at 16.4 points per game. He is third in the Big Ten in 3-point percentage (41.4).

SCOUTING THE HOOSIERS
• Indiana is 6-7 in conference play and 13-12 overall, having snapped a four-game winless streak on Monday night at Rutgers, 65-43.
• Juwan Morgan leads the Hoosier offense, with team highs of 16.8 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per game. He is one of only two IU players to average double figures, along with Robert Johnson (13.4 ppg).
• IU has been successful at home in Big Ten play, going 4-2 thus far in Bloomington compared to a 2-5 road mark.
• Indiana has defeated the Gophers each of the last three trips that Minnesota has made to Assembly Hall.

UP NEXT
• A showdown with top-10 foe Michigan State awaits the Gophers in their penultimate home game next week.
• The Spartans and Gophers will battle at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
• ESPN2 and KTLK 1130 AM/103.5 FM will carry the broadcast of the game.
