MINNEAPOLIS ââ'¬" Fresh off pitching the Gopher Baseball team to a 2-0 shutout and a Big Ten series victory over Nebraska on Sunday afternoon, right-handed pitcher Patrick Fredrickson has been named the Co-Freshman of the Week by the Conference on Monday afternoon.
Fredrickson extended his scoreless innings streak to 17.0 after scattering four hits and one walk in 7.0 innings to claim a victory for the third-straight start. He struck out a season-high six batters to move to 3-0 on the season. The native of Gig Harbor, Washington is the second Gophers starting pitcher to earn the Big Ten Freshman of the Week honor in the last two seasons, with Brett Schulze claiming the honor back on May 8, 2017.
The award is the second Big Ten Weekly Honor for Minnesota this season as Terrin Vavra was named the league's Player of the Week back on February 26.
