The University of Minnesota football team will host its annual spring game presented by Abbott at 12 p.m. on April 14 at TCF Bank Stadium. The morning will be filled with family-friendly and fan activities leading up to the free-to-attend game.
And what a game it will be.
Coach Fleck announced today that the Gophers will hold an actual game in April (no glorified practices here!), as Team Maroon will battle Team Gold for spring football supremacy!
Excited to announce our 2018 Spring Game will feature Team Gold (Led by @CoachSmithMN) vs. Team Maroon (Led by @KirkCiarrocca)!! Our team draft is next week!! Wear Maroon or Gold to show which team you support!! See ya on April 14!! #RTB #HYPRR #SkiUMah pic.twitter.com/Igpdzh4o4R

The Maroon team will be coached by offensive coordinator Kirk Ciarrocca and will be captained by star linebacker Thomas Barber. The Gold team will be led by defensive coordinator Robb Smith with standout running back Rodney Smith serving as captain.
The rest of the rosters will be decided by a high-drama draft in April prior to the game. Rumor has it that Cirarrocca and Smith are already at odds and that the trash talk is heavy on the fourth floor of the David and Janis Larson Football Performance Center.
Rosters will be announced once the draft is complete and fans are then encouraged to wear either Maroon or Gold to the spring game to represent the team they are cheering for.
Additional spring game information will be announced soon.
