The Gophers rested some of their top performers but still came away with their fifth straight victory topping UIC 386.050-354.900 this afternoon.

"It's always good to put another 'W' in the win/loss column," head coach Mike Burns said. "We were a little down on our performances but had a few super bright spots. This week will be a key preparation week as we head to Iowa City for a Big Ten matchup."

Minnesota took home event titles on all six rotations this afternoon led by Vitali Kan's 14.700 on vault and Alex Wittenberg's 14.700 on floor. Ben Winkel won his first ever event title with a 14.100 on p-bars.

"We've got a great p-bar lineup so it's rare for me to come out on top but it's a great feeling to compete a good set regardless of placing," Winkel said.

Shane Wiskus and Shaun Herzog each took the weekend off to rest.

POMMEL HORSE

Kan also won the pommel horse title this afternoon with a 13.400. Senior Alex Wittenberg took second with a 12.750 and Jordan Poganski recorded a career high 12.700 for a podium finish.

"Huge shoutout to senior Jordan Poganski who anchorded the horse lineup and posted a season high," Burns said.

FLOOR

Wittenberg annihilated his season high on floor with a 14.700 to win the event title. Kan kept his strong afternoon going with a 14.200 and Luke Aldrich rounded out the podium with a 13.550.

VAULT

The Gophers went over the 70 mark for the fifth straight meet on vault highlighted by Kan's winning 14.700 score. Yaroslav Pochinka continues to be a force on vault with a 14.550 this afternoon. Wittenberg anchored with a 14.450 and Joel Gagnon hit a 14.000.

RINGS

Pochinka brought home the rings title with a 13.550. Freshmen Colton Dee and Russel Johnson each took podium finishes with a 12.900 and a 12.650, respectively.

HIGH BAR

Stephens won high bar with a 13.100. Tristan Duran took second with a 12.650 and Dee took another podium finish on the day with a 12.200.

PARALLEL BARS
