Gophers Conclude Zone Diving Championship

MINNEAPOLIS - On the final day of Zone D Diving inside the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center, Minnesota diving punched two more tickets to the NCAA meet as Morgan Justus and Alan LeBlang both captured qualifying finishes on the platform.

Kristen Hayden notched the highest finish for the women on the platform. Finishing fourth with a 12-dive score of 545.15, she now has added all three diving events to her NCAA schedule. Morgan Justus found herself just outside the top nine qualifying spot heading into the final two rounds. Justus stepped up to the challenge in her final two dives to sneak up to the final spot placing ninth scoring a 496.85.

Beth Etterman wrapped up the Zone D diving with an 11th place finishing scoring a 482.50 while Mariam Khamis placed 14th with a 449.70.

On the men's side, Alan LeBlang was on the outside looking in for a bid to the NCAA Championship meet. LeBlang found his way into a qualifying bid in his fifth place finish scoring a 703.30. Nick Yang placing sixth with a score of 682.20, which qualifies him for his third event at the NCAA meet.

Also competing in the finals was Maxim Royzen placing 15th with a score of 569.30. In the prelims Jeremy Moser scored a 312.60.

Next up for Gopher diving is the NCAA meet. Sarah Bacon, Kristen Hayden and Morgan Justus head to Columbus, Ohio March 14-17 to compete in the women's NCAA meet. Nick Yang and Alan LeBlang dive one more time this season inside Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center as the Gophers host the men's NCAA meet March 21-24.
