Minnesota (24-14, 7-3 Big Ten) used a five-run ninth inning for a 6-2 comeback win over Iowa (19-21, 5-8 Big Ten), before taking the shortened game night cap 11-1 in five innings.

"We just kept battling and kept working towards what we were fighting for," said head coach Jamie Trachsel of the comeback efforts. "I thought it was a really good mental test for us. Offensively it was our most complete series with different people coming through in different ways at different times. Our pitchers did their job and gave us a chance to make a lot of routine plays."

At the plate, sophomore Kendyl Lindaman led the Gophers at the plate going 5-for-7 with three runs, one home run and four RBI.

Game one | Minnesota 6, Iowa 2 (9 innings)
Minnesota entered the day just 1-10 in games where they trailed after five innings of play, good news is that things brightened up once the game hit extras where the Maroon and Gold are now 4-1 this year.

Sending all nine hitters to the plate in the top of the ninth, Minnesota plated five runs on three hits en route to the comeback victory. MaKenna Partain broke the 1-1 tie with a triple off the right-center wall scoring freshman Ellee Jensen. With one out in the inning, pinch-hitter Allie Arneson laid down a perfect bunt allowing Partain to score. Sydney Dwyer opened up the flood gates finding real-estate in the left-center gap to record a two-RBI double before scoring on the very next play.

Right-hander Amber Fiser was lights out once again in her home state. Tossing eight innings of work and allowing five hits, one Iowa runner crossed the plate as an unearned run. Fiser recorded strikeouts to close out four of the first five innings of play as Iowa took a 1-0 lead into the seventh.

Down to their final three outs, Minnesota clawed their way back in the game plating the tying run in the seventh. Jensen collected her first hit of the game to start the late rally. A batter later Partain doubled to left field as Jensen was thrown out in a rundown trying to score from first. Showing off the traits of a smart base runner, Partain snuck over to third during the rundown which allowed her to score on the next play involving an Iowa error.

With a five run lead, Minnesota made the call to the bullpen in the ninth bringing in freshman Rachel Lowary. The southpaw in one inning of work allowed three hits, one run which was not earned and struck out one.

Game two | Minnesota 11, Iowa 1 (5 innings)
The bats picked up right where they left off, plating three runs on four hits in the opening frame. Two-out hitting highlighted the first as Maddie Houlihan and Dani Wagner recorded back-to-back RBI doubles before Danielle Parlich brought in Wagner with a single.

Iowa tried to duplicate the Gophers' half of the fist with all six batters reaching base. The Hawkeyes were unsuccessful as three fielder's choice plays forced a zero up on the scoreboard. A pair of Minnesota errors in the second helped the hosts scratch across their only run of the game.

Minnesota put the pedal to the medal in the fourth sending 12 hitters to the plate while scoring six runs on five hits to take a 9-1 lead. Katelyn Kemmetmueller doubled twice in the slug fest inning, while Lindaman's two-RBI single and Wagner's three-RBI double highlighted the inning.

Giving the Gophers a double digit lead, Lindaman sent her 15th home run of the year over the left field wall in the fifth to secure the Big Ten sweep.

Retiring the final nine Hawkeyes, four of those by strikeout, Sydney Smith improved to 3-4 in the circle allowing just two hits and no earned runs.

Up Next
Minnesota opens up a seven-game home stand on Wednesday, April 18 as they welcome Wisconsin to Dinkytown, before welcoming Nebraska April 20-22.
