Frid Kicks Off Action at Bryan Clay Invite

ASUZA, Calif. - Teddy Frid kicked off a busy weekend for the University of Minnesota men's track & field program on the West Coast by competing in the decathlon at the 2018 Bryan Clay Invitational.
In his first decathlon competition with the Gophers, Frid finished first in his 14-man group and ninth overall with a point total of 7,269 - a mark that now ranks ninth all-time with the Maroon & Gold.
The Gophers junior found himself in third among his group after the opening five events, but the indoor All-American improved his standings on the second day of competition - leading two of the final five events and finishing second in another.
On Saturday, Frid paced the group in the 110-meter hurdles (14.48) for 901 points - his highest point total of the competition -- and the pole vault (4.70 meters/15-05.00 ft.) for 819 points. He also added a second-place showing in the 1,500 meters (4:36.21) for 704 points while finishing eighth in both the discus (32.90 meters/107-11 ft.) and the javelin (42.71 meters/140-01 ft.) for 522 and 482 points, respectively.
Frid opened the competition with 810 points in the 100 meters (11.23, ninth), 795 points in the long jump (6.92 meters/22-08.50 ft., seventh), 617 points in the shot put (12.18 meters/39-11.50 ft., fifth), 785 points in the high jump (1.98 meters/6-06.00 ft., third) and 834 points in the 400 meters (49.59, fourth).
