Minnesota Finishes 14th at Big Ten Championship

MINNEAPOLIS -- The University of Minnesota men's golf team wrapped up play at the Big Ten Championship in 14th place at the Baltimore Country Club in Baltimore, Md. Senior Runar Arnorsson led the team, finishing in a tie for 47th.
The Golden Gophers finished the third round with a 25-over score of 305, putting the total team score at 896. The finish of 56 above par put the Gophers in 14th, two shots back from Rutgers in 13th. Illinois won the Big Ten Championship for the second consecutive year, carding a four-under three-round score of 836.
Arnorsson finished the third round with a six-over score of 79, while his 54-hole score of 224 was 14 over par. The other Gophers senior, Riley Johnson, finished with a 15-over score of 225. He ended the tournament in a tie for 51st.
Sophomore Thomas Longbella carded a five-over 75 in the third round. He finished 17 over par in 59th place. Freshman Angus Flanagan finished the final 18 holes with a 3-over score of 73, the best on the team, to finish in a tie for 60th. Fellow freshman Evan Long also finished in a tie for 60th, going 18 over par.
Nick Hardy of Illinois won the individual competition. He went six-over through three rounds, finishing with a total score of 204.
