"I am very excited and proud to welcome Cody Shoemaker and his family into our Gopher softball program," said Trachsel.  "Cody's character, personality and high level experience make him the perfect fit for this position and program.  His communication skills, professionalism, and eagerness to be part of Minnesota softball and this athletic department will serve him well as he makes an immediate impact not just on our staff, but in the lives of our student athletes and those who are connected and passionate about Gopher softball as well."

"I am super stoked to come to Minnesota and be a part of the Gopher Family," Shoemaker said. "I believe this program is on the brink of unprecedented success in the classroom, community and competition, and I am grateful to Coach Trachsel for allowing me to be a part of it. We have an awesome coaching staff in place that will pour our hearts into these girls and help them have all the necessary tools in their toolbox to be successful in all three C's of their life (Classroom, Community and Competition). I would also like to thank Brian Smith (Head Wrestling Coach at The University of Missouri) for his leadership and guidance over the past three years in helping prepare me for this great opportunity here at Minnesota."

Prior to his time at Missouri, he spent four years at Michigan State where he assisted the Spartans' wrestling program with internal operations. He also served on a two-year mission trip for his church to Sao Paulo, Brazil prior to his time at Michigan State.
