‘U’ Squads Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) honored the University of Minnesota women’s and men’s track & field programs as All-Academic Teams on Thursday while a total of 21 Gopher student-athletes claimed individual academic accolades.
MINNEAPOLIS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) honored the University of Minnesota women's and men's track & field programs as All-Academic Teams on Thursday while a total of 21 Gopher student-athletes claimed individual academic accolades.
The following University of Minnesota student-athletes were awarded individual academic merits by the USTFCCCA.
Women
Bethany Hasz, Megan Hasz, Lexi Kiefer, Val Larson, Titania Markland, Shay Nielsen, Temi Ogunrinde
Kiley Sabin, Rachel Schow, Emma Spagnola, Madeline Strandemo, Heta Tuuri, Taylor Wiebke, Shanique Wright
Men
Alec Basten, Dawson LaRance, Ryan Lockard, Shane Streich. Jonathan Tharaldsen, John Uchytil, Derek Wiebke
Teams must record a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher to be eligible for the 2018 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award while individuals must own a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher. Student-athletes must also have met one of two athletic achievements during the season – must have finished the season ranked in the top 96 in any indoor championship event or in the top 48 in any indoor championship relay event or must have participated in any round of the NCAA outdoor track & field championships.
