Arnorsson, Jones Named All-American Scholars

MINNEAPOLIS – Minnesota men's golfers Runar Arnorsson and Peter Jones were honored Friday by the Golf Coaches Association of America as Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars.

To be eligible for the honor at the Division I level, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2.

A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

Arnorsson, who was a senior this past year, competed in all 11 tournaments for the Gophers and finished fifth on the team with a 74.13 scoring average. His best finish came at the Hawkeye Invitational when he tied for 26th place.

Jones, a senior-to-be, competed in four tournaments in the fall and four tournaments in the spring. He ranked third on the team this past season with a scoring average of 73.94. The highlight of his season came in the fall during the Maui Jim Intercollegiate when he tied for sixth with a 3-under 213.
