Clunis to Represent Jamaica

Nayoka Clunis will compete at the 2018 Athletics World Cup in London, representing her native Jamaica

MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota rising senior Nayoka Clunis has been selected to represent her native Jamaica at the inaugural Athletics World Cup on Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15 at the London Stadium.

Clunis is set to compete in hammer throw in London after winning the Jamaican national title with a throw of 57.83m at the Jamaica National Senior Championships. She also finished third in shot put (15.48m) and took sixth in discus (49.47m) at the national meet. Clunis wrapped up her first season competing for the Maroon & Gold as a two-time All-American, earning Second Team honors in the weight throw indoors and hammer throw outdoors.

A new competition this year, the Athletics World Cup features the world's top eight track & field nations in the United States, Great Britain & Northern Ireland, Poland, China, Germany, France, Jamaica, and South Africa. It includes all track events up to and including the 1500m along with all field events. Two evenings of straight-final action will conclude with one nation being crowned champions before lifting the Athletics World Cup Platinum Trophy.
