Big Ten Highlights Three Gopher Women's Golfers

Three of the University of Minnesota women's golfers were tabbed by the Big Ten Conference as ones to watch on Wednesday, as the conference's preseason honorees list was announced.
Representing the Gophers are senior Muyu Wu and sophomores Joanne Free and Grace Kellar.
Wu enters her final season in Maroon and Gold after becoming one of the team's standouts. Last year, she was second on the team in scoring average at 75.75, which ranks 15th in program history. She three times finished in the top-20 after competing in every tournament, including her best of the year tying for 17th at the Minnesota Invitational.
Free had a strong debut season last year, in which she was third on the team in scoring average (76.58), a mark which ranks fourth among all-time Gopher freshmen. She was in the lineup in every tournament, marking her best finish of the year at the Meadow Club Women's Collegiate where she placed 31st.
Kellar also had an outstanding freshman season, where she was three-tenths of a stroke behind her classmate Free with the fourth-best scoring average on the team (76.88). That mark is fifth all-time among Gopher freshman. She posted one top-20 finish, when she tied for 17th at the Louisville Ladies Fall Invitational.
The Gophers begin their 2018-19 season in two weeks, hosting the Minnesota Invitational from September 10-11 at Preswick Golf Club in Woodbury.
