Gophers Add Transfer Infielder Hope Brandner

MINNEAPOLIS – University of Minnesota head coach Jamie Trachsel has announced the addition of infielder Hope Brandner. The Vacaville, Calif. native will transfer from Oregon State for the upcoming season and will have three seasons of eligibility left.
"We are excited to welcome Hope into our Gopher softball family," said Trachsel. "Her softball background, experience and confidence - especially as a hitter will be a welcomed addition to our already talented team. Hope has the confidence every great hitter needs, the ability to hit for power, and the composure to deliver in big moments. We look forward to adding another player to our roster who will represent the University of Minnesota and our softball program with high class and character, while upholding the standards of greatness on and off the field."
In her rookie season with the Beavers, Brandner started in 51 games posting a .299 overall batting average and .304 average in conference play. She led the team in RBI (36), home runs (12) and slugging percentage (.530) while also leading the Beavers to their first win over No. 2/5 Oregon since 2012, Brandner recorded the walk-off RBI single on March 30. During the year she earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Week, was named to the NFCA All-Pacific Region First Team and garnered Pac-12 All-Conference Third Team and All-Freshman Team honors.
Brandner graduated from Vanden High School where she was captain of the softball team as well as a four-year All-League member and three-year Section MVP. She is also the San Joaquin Section Playoff Consecutive Homerun record holder after belting eight consecutive long balls.
This fall Brandner will join newcomers Emma Burns, Natalie DenHartog, Emily Hansen, Ali Lindner and Josey White.
