Gophers Remain National No. 24

No. 24 Minnesota climbed one place in the NCAA Midwest Region rankings this week.
MINNEAPOLIS --Â The Golden Gopher women's cross country team remains No. 24 in the nation according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division I Women's Cross Country Week One National Coaches' Poll released Tuesday.
The Big Ten Conference has six teams ranked among the nation's top 30 in No. 7 Wisconsin, No. 12 Michigan, No. 13 Penn State, No. 15 Michigan State, No. 20 Indiana, and No. 24 Minnesota. Ohio State received 10 votes this week as well.
No. 1 New Mexico (330 points), No. 2 Colorado (318), No. 3 Stanford (306), No. 4 Oregon (289), and No. 5 Boise State (288) make up the nation's top five teams in the week one poll as the top seven teams maintained their places from the preseason poll.
Along with maintaining the No. 24 national ranking, the Gophers climbed one place in the USTFCCCA Week One Regional Rankings as Minnesota comes in second in the Midwest Region this week. Iowa State remains the region's top team; the Gophers and Oklahoma State traded places from the preseason poll while Northwestern improved two spots to move up to fifth, knocking Bradley out of the top five teams in the region.
The next USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll is set to come out Tuesday, Sept. 18 after the week two regional rankings are released on Monday, Sept. 17.
