Kellar Earns B1G Golfer of the Week
9/12/2018 2:25:00 PM | Women's Golf
After turning in the best performance of her Minnesota career, sophomore Grace Kellar was recognized Wednesday as the Big Ten Golfer of the Week.
It is the first award for the Edina, Minn., native, and the first for a Gopher since Anna Laorr in 2015.
Kellar finished tied for third place at the Minnesota Invitational with a score of 2-under par (73-68-73—214). Her tournament score and finish were both new career bests, as well as her second-round score of 68.
The 4-under-par round matched the eighth-lowest 18-hole round in program history. It is the low round of her career, besting her previous low of 71 at the same event a year ago, and the lowest score carded by a Gopher since Sabrine Garrison's 67 at the 2014 Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown. Her two-round total of 141 ties the sixth-lowest in program history and best since Emie Peronnin's 140 in the 2017 Big Ten Championship.
Kellar and the Gophers return to action next week, hosting the prestigious ANNIKA Intercollegiate presented by 3M. The three-day tournament featuring the best field in college women's golf will be contested at Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo from September 17-19.
