9/13/2018 5:41:00 PM | Soccer

On Friday the Minnesota soccer program will recognize five seniors for their time and dedication put in as Gophers. Emily Peterson, Molly Fiedler, Maddie Castro, Emily Heslin and April Bockin will be recognized in a short pregame ceremony at 5:30 p.m. prior to the Illinois match so make sure to get to Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium early.

While there is still plenty of the 2018 season left to go, let's take a look at the numbers for the Class of 2018.

2016       It was a historic year for Gopher soccer going 16-3-4 while winning the Big Ten regular season and tournament title for the first time since 1995. Being sophomores at the time, they accounted for eight goals, 11 assists and 27 points. Heslin scored her only goal of the season in dramatic fashion putting in the game winner of the Big Ten Tournament title game against Rutgers.

The Class of 2018 has made two NCAA Tournament appearances while in search of one more this season. During their rookie season the Gophers opened up the tournament with a 5-0 win over South Dakota State at Elizabeth Lyle Robbie Stadium before falling in the second round to Loyola Marymount. During the 2016 campaign the Gophers took a heart breaking loss in the opening round falling to North Carolina State in a shootout following a scoreless 110 minutes.

71           The Gophers have been a part of 71 games in their career. Fiedler is the lone senior to have started in all 71 matches while Heslin has played in all 71 games, starting in 50 of those.

24           The combined total of goals scored among the senior class is 24. Bockin leads all scorers with 15 career goals with Heslin behind her at five.

49           Sharing is caring with the class of 2018. With a combined 49 assists, the senior class has the most combined career assists than any other senior class during the Stefanie Golan era. Bockin with 23 assists currently ranks eighth all-time in program history while Fielder is tied for ninth with 20.

97           With 24 goals and 49 assists, the senior class has amassed 97 career points.

33           The senior class has aided in blanking their opponents 33 times over the span of 71 games. Peterson has led the charge on the back line as a defender in all four seasons.

6              There have been six wins over Top-25 teams as well as six ties during the senior's time at Minnesota. The most notable win came on Sunday, September 20, 2015 as the Gophers upset No. 4 Penn State, 1-0, in State College.
