Gopher alumna Madeline Strandemo has signed a contract to run for Oiselle and train with the LittleWing Athletics group in Bend, Ore.
"The Minnesota program is all about consistency, smart training, and longevity, and it set me up to keep building and improving each year of my career," Strandemo said. "That's why I feel so prepared and confident for the road ahead! I'm so thankful for the opportunity from Oiselle to continue doing what I love!"
Oiselle's elite athletes include Kara Goucher, Lauren Fleshman, and Allie Kiefer. Strandemo is one of the newest members of the "Haute Volée Team," which Oiselle defines as a group of emerging women who have the goal of competing at the highest level.
Strandemo wrapped up her Gopher career last spring as Minnesota's program record-holder in the 3,000m steeplechase (9:51.49). A two-time Big Ten champion as a junior, Strandemo most recently was the 2018 Big Ten runner-up indoor in the mile and outdoor in the 3,000m steeplechase as a senior. Her highest NCAA finish of her career was a ninth-place showing in the 3,000m steeplechase at the 2017 NCAA Championship. Strandemo was also a two-time All-Midwest Region and All-Big Ten honoree in cross country for the Maroon & Gold. A two-year team captain for the Gophers, Strandemo was part of three Big Ten Championship teams on the track.
