Host Gophers Welcome Top Field to ANNIKA Intercollegiate

The 2018-19 Minnesota women's golf team will compete in its second of two home meets this week with the Annika Intercollegiate, presented by 3M. This year's tournament will be hosted at the Royal Golf Club in Lake Elmo, Minn., where admission is free.
The Gophers will play Monday through Wednesday, golfing 18 holes each day of the tournament. Minnesota will face 11 of the country's top golf programs during the ceompetition, including last year's tournament champion, Arkansas. Minnesota's lineup will feature sophomore Grace Kellar, senior Muyu Wu, and sophomores Joanne Free, Jessica Lee and Kate Lillie.
Kellar is coming off a career-best meet last week that earned her the team's first Big Ten Golfer of the Week honor since 2015. The sophomore finished tied for third in the tournament with a score of 214, 2-under par, her best finish and meet score as a Gopher. It was the team's best 54-hole score since 2014. She also set a new personal record in the second round with a mark of 68, which was good for 4-under and tied for the 8th-best 18-hole score in program history.
Wu started her senior season strong and placed 55th at 12-over par (77-75-76—228), and sophomores Lillie (79-74-79—232) and Free (79-78-78—235) tied for 67th, and 76th, respectively. Lee is making her debut in the Gopher lineup after finishing tied for 64th (76-75-80—231) at the Minnesota Invitational last week as an individual.
Minnesota is joined by fellow Big Ten member Northwestern in the field as well as Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Duke, Oregon State, South Carolina, Stanford, Texas, USC and UCLA. Arkansas claimed the team crown in the tournament last year, and junior Razorback and All-American Maria Fassi won the individual field in 2016 and 2017.
