Gophers in the Pros (Sept. 6 Update)

The minor league regular season comes to an end this week, closing out the 2018 campaign for several Gophers alumni, but how did they fare down the stretch? For our latest update through August 15, click here.
 
Austin Athmann (Lakeland Flying Tigers/Tigers A Advanced) - Stats
Athmann finished out the Florida State League season batting .243 with 11 doubles, 29 RBIs, and 23 runs scored in 76 games. He had an impressive last couple of weeks to close out the regular season, lifting a pair of doubles and four RBIs against Daytona on August 22, highlighting a four-game hitting streak where he went 8-for-15.
 
Alex Boxwell (St. Paul Saints/American Association) – Stats
Joining the Saints late last month for the stretch run, Boxwell had just one at-bat for St. Paul during the regular season at Chicago on Aug. 25.
 
Micah Coffey (Great Falls Voyagers/White Sox Rookie) - Stats
Coffey rebounded from a slow start in Great Falls and is now hitting .256 headed into the playoffs where the team will meet Billings beginning Friday. Coffey owns a hit in 10 of his last 11 games including a 5-game hitting streak. For the year, he's batting .265 with nine doubles, one home run, 22 RBIs, and 27 runs scored.
 
Lucas Gilbreath (Asheville Tourists/Rockies A) - Stats
Gilbreath made a pair of starts since our last update, tossing 5.0 shutout innings at Collumbia on August 26 before closing his season by striking out seven in 5.0 innings against Rome. He finished the season with a 7-8 record and 5.08 ERA in 26 appearances (21 starts). He struck out 119 batters in 116.0 innings.
 
Brian Glowicki (South Bend Cubs/Cubs A) - Stats
Glowicki finished up his season with a save at Great Lakes on Sept. 3, tossing a hitless, shutout inning. He finished the year with 18 saves in 21 opportunities, a 5-5 record and 1.20 ERA in 45 games and 67.2 innings, striking out 66.
 
Jordan Jess (Bradenton Marauders/Pirates A) - Stats
Jess made four appearances down the stretch for Bradenton, closing out his season with 2.2 shutout innings at Tampa, striking out two on Sept. 2. He finished the season with a 4-5 record and 4.71 ERA in 33 games, collecting three saves in four opportunities. Jess struck out 54 batters in 49.2 innings while allowing just 11 walks on the season.
 
Dan Lyons (Long Island Ducks/Atlantic League) - Stats
Lyons and the Ducks continue to battle down the stretch, leading the Liberty Division at 32-31 on the season, one game up on Somerset. Lyons went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI at York on Sept. 2. He's now batting .231 for the season with 10 doubles, six home runs, 33 RBIs, and 39 runs scored.
 
Ben Meyer (Miami Marlins/MLB) - Stats
Meyer returned to the majors ahead of rosters expanding in September, tossing a shutout inning against Toronto in his return on Sept. 2, but then gave up a run in a hitless outing against Philadelphia last time out on Sept. 4. He's tossed 17.1 innings in the big leagues this season to go with a 4.24 ERA in 63.2 minor league innings.
 
Reggie Meyer (Spokane/Rangers A) - Stats
Meyer pitched a shutout inning against Vancouver on Sept. 1, striking out one while needing just 10 pitches. He's made 13 appearances for Spokane, currently 0-2 with a 6.06 ERA, striking out 17 in 16.1 innings.
 
Dan Motl (St. Paul Saints/American Association) - Stats
Motl was shipped from Sioux Falls back to the Twin Cities, joining St. Paul in a trade late last month. He played in nine games in the regular season for the Saints, and went 1-for-3 in his first chance in the playoffs, a 4-0 win for the Saints.
 
Jackson Rose (GCL Marlins/Marlins Rookie) - Stats
Rose finished up his first season with the rookie squad with a 4.91 ERA in 10 games. He struck out 13 in 11.0 innings, including striking out five batters in his final two appearances, a span of 2.0 innings.
 
Dalton Sawyer (Oakland A's System)
Sawyer continues to rehab from Tommy John surgery.
 
D.J Snelten (Norfolk Tides/Orioles AAA) - Stats
Snelten made four appearances down the stretch for the Tides, including 3.0 shutout innings over his final two appearances on Aug. 29 at Gwinnett and Sept. 1 at Durham. He finished the year with a 3-3 record and 4.98 ERA across two minor league organizations, throwing 47.0 innings with 45 strikeouts. He spent a short time in the majors with San Francisco, tossing 4.1 innings in four appearances.
 
Terrin Vavra (Boise Hawks/Rockies A) - Stats
Vavra continued to swing a hot bat throughout the entire minor league season, slugging .467 for the Hawks. He batted .302 with eight doubles, four triples, four home runs, 26 RBIs, and 22 runs scored in 44 games during his first season.
 
Tom Windle (Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs/Phillies AAA) - Stats
As the AAA season nears its end, Windle has not allowed a run in his last five appearances. He has a 9-4 record and 4.17 ERA in 50 games, also collecting three saves on the year while striking out 52 in 54.0 innings.
 
Alec Crawford, Matt Fiedler, and Luke Pettersen also played professionally this year, but each finished his career earlier this summer.
