Pair of Gophers Alumni Place at Dave Schultz Memorial

Pat Smith ('15) took home the gold medal in the 77kg Greco-Roman competition while Brett Pfarr ('17) took home bronze at 86kg freestyle in his first senior level tournament. The pair competed at the 2019 Dave Schultz Memorial International.
Smith, already a 2017 US World Team member, reached his second milestone that provides qualification for the 2020 Olympic Team Trials. The Chaska, Minnesota native won his three bouts by a combined score of 20-4 capped off by a 5-1 victory over Mason Manville of the Nittany Lion Wrestling Club.
Pfarr, who finished his Gophers career with 120 wins, went 2-1 on the weekend with victories in his first and final bouts surrounding the lone loss. Pfarr defeated Josef Rau of Titan Mercury Wrestling Club for third place.
The pair both compete for the Minnesota Storm led by fellow former Gopher Dustin Schlatter.
