Ramler Doesn’t Miss a Beat

Sophomore Lexy Ramler marks her return to the competition floor with a first-place finish in the all-around competition at tonight's quad meet against No. 20 Arizona State, No. 19 Missouri and UIC.

Her final score of 39.525 and event wins on vault (9.900) and the uneven bars (9.900) meet the same high standards the St. Michael, Minn. native set last season when she earned All-American honors on the uneven bars, balance beam, and in the all-around competition as a freshman. Ramler's 9.900 on vault tonight is also a new personal best for the gymnast.

"Lexy Ramler had a great night tonight, " said head coach Jenny Hansen. "I'd say Tiarre Sales had a really good night as well. Those two stepped up and did a good job for the team tonight."

Sales hit all three of her routines to help the Gophers capture third place in tonight's quad meet with a final team score of 194.150. Her 9.800 on bars was the seventh-highest score on the apparatus, and her consistency across the board provided a much-needed steadying presence for Minnesota.

Bars

The Gophers began the night on bars and finished the event with a team total of 49.025. Ivy Lu contributed a strong score of 9.850 in addition to Ramler's 9.900 and Sales' 9.800. Hannah Willmarth's score of 9.775 and Casey Betts' 9.700 performance round out the top five routines for Minnesota.

Beam

Ramler hit big for the Gophers on beam, contributing a 9.900 from her anchor spot at the conclusion of a disappointing rotation for Minnesota.

"That was not who we are," Jenny Hansen said. "It was very uncharacteristic mistakes out there tonight for us. [Beam] is an event that I know we can do much better on moving forward."

Ali Sonier and Sales added a 9.625 and a 9.600 respectively to round out the top three scores for the team on beam.

Floor

The Gophers steadied as they moved to the third rotation of the night. Ramler and Paige Williams were awarded the top scores for Minnesota on floor with their 9.825s. Rachel Cutler's 9.750, Ona Loper's 9.675 and Sonier's 9.575 finish out the top five performances on floor.

Vault

Minnesota completed the meet with their best event score of the night as they totaled a 49.050 on vault. Ramler led the way with her personal best of 9.900. Loper and Williams also put out strong vaults, each earning a 9.850. A 9.775 and a 9.675 from Sonier and Sales round of the scoring routines for the Gophers.
