Butler Named B1G Diver of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS - Minnesota freshman Jake Butler has been named Big Ten Diver of the Week for his performance in the team's first dual of the season against Florida.
Butler swept the diving events while posting two NCAA Diving Zone qualifying scores last Friday as the Gophers faced off against the Gators. In the one-meter, Butler finished first with a score of 331.65. Butler also took first place in the three-meter after delivering a score of 383.55.
A native of Seal Beach, Calif., Butler becomes the first Gopher of the season to garner weekly Big Ten honors for swimming and diving. The last Gopher diver to receive the weekly Big Ten honor was Nick Yang, who accomplished the feat the week of Oct. 17 in 2018.
Butler will look to continue his early success this upcoming weekend, as Minnesota travels to Tallahassee, Fla. to take on the Florida State Seminoles. The dual will take place on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 9 a.m. CST.
