Curran Among Leaders as Gophers Eighth After First Round

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - Freshman Grace Curran is three shots off the lead after the first round concluded Friday at the Cardinal Cup, hosted by Louisville. Curran is tied for third after her 1-under-par 71, pacing the Minnesota women's golf team who is eighth after 18 holes.
Two shots behind Curran is junior Joanne Free, who is tied for 11th at 1-over-par 73. Junior Grace Kellar is tied for 52nd at 6-over-par, while junior Kate Lillie and sophomore Karen Zhang are tied for 63rd after opening-round scores of 7-over-par 79.
Freshman Annabelle Ackroyd, competing as an individual, is tied for 40th at 5-over-par 77.
Campbell holds the team lead at 4-over-par 292, with the Gophers nine shots back at 13-over-par 301. Louisville's Mairead Martin has a two-stroke lead after her first-round score of 4-under-par 68.
The second round of the Cardinal Cup continues Saturday morning, with the Gophers scheduled to tee off starting at 10 a.m. ET.
