Gophers Close Out Fall With 12th Place Finish at Cardinal Cup

SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. ā The Minnesota women's golf team wrapped up its 2019 fall season on Sunday, finishing 12th at the Cardinal Cup hosted by the University of Louisville.
Minnesota (301-307-305ā913) was led by junior Joanne Free, who tied for 26th place at 8-over-par (73-76-75ā224). Four shots behind her was classmate Grace Kellar (78-75-75ā228), who tied for 42nd place.
Finishing tied for 51st was freshman Grace Curran (71-77-82ā230), while junior Kate Lillie (79-82-75ā236) tied for 72nd place. Sophomore Karen Zhang (79-79-80ā238) rounded out the lineup with a 78th place finish.
Individual competitor Annabelle Ackroyd (77-75-77ā229) tied for 45th place.
Kansas's Sera Tadokoro (71-69-68ā208) claimed medalist honors while host Louisville earned the team title (297-291-280ā868).
Notable
Five out of the six Gophers competing this weekend in the Bluegrass State marked their best individual tournament finishes of the season to date, excluding Lillie who tied for 12th at the Minnesota Invitational.
