Gophers Earn USC Team Academic Honor

The United Soccer Coaches announced the Minnesota soccer program as one of the Team Academic Award winners for the 2018-19 academic year.
The Gophers were one of 647 women's programs across the nation recognized for earning a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The Maroon and Gold far surpassed the criteria with a team GPA of 3.52.
At the end of the season, 15 Gophers earned Academic All-Big Ten status and were led by top goal-scorer April Bockin who also earned a spot on the Academic All-District team. Ten of those 15 recipients returned to the Gophers for the 2019 season while the other five graduated.
While excelling academically, the Gophers were simultaneously finding success on the field. Last season the Gophers won the Big Ten Tournament with three consecutive shutouts before earning the first NCAA Tournament road victory in program history. Â
Athletically, the Gophers are set to face the Indiana Hoosiers on Sunday, October 6 before a midweek away match against border rival Wisconsin next Thursday THE
