Sydney Scobee is the WCHA Goaltender of the Week after her play against Minnesota State.

MINNEAPOLIS -- University of Minnesota senior goaltender Sydney Scobee has been named the WCHA Goaltender of the Week for her play in the Gophers' road sweep over Minnesota State last weekend. Scobee and the Gophers opened WCHA play with 6-0 and 7-1 wins over the Mavericks.

Scobee was perfect in net as the Gophers opened conference play by securing six WCHA points over the weekend. Scobee played five of six periods in net for the Maroon & Gold this weekend, earning a 16-save shutout in game one and making 19 saves on 19 shots faced over the first two periods in game two before freshman goaltender Makayla Pahl saw action in the third period.

Scobee earned her sixth career shutout in game one and played five-of-six periods for the Gophers for the second-straight weekend. The Minnetrista, Minn., native was tied for the WCHA lead with a perfect 2-0-0 record on the weekend, a perfect save percentage, and a perfect goals against average. She was one of four WCHA goaltenders to earn one shutout over the weekend, and she faced the most shots on goal (35) among the three league goaltenders with unblemished stats over the weekend.

Scobee and the Gophers resume non-conference action on the road at Robert Morris this week. Puck drop is set for 2:05 p.m. CT Friday and 12:05 p.m. CT Saturday at Colonials Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa.
