Q&A with Hunt Conroy

This feature originally was printed in the November 5 game program against Cleveland State. Interview by Matt Little, Athletic Communications Student Assistant.
Gopher Sports: Being an upperclassman now, how have you seen your roles on the team change?
Conroy: After being a part of three different teams, and this one obviously has seven new guys, it's just important to make sure the freshmen learn the little things as they come along. Help them grow and connect with the team, what not to do, and stuff like that. Just the little stuff.
GS: What excites you about this year's team that may not have been there last year?
Conroy: We've got a lot of athleticism, I think this team can shoot it a little bit better, and just a lot of guys with energy.
GS: What's your favorite thing to do with the team off the court?
Conroy: Play Playstation, watch games and sports bloopers. Just hang out really.
GS: Who's the best 2k player on the team?
Conroy: I'd have to say Eric.
GS: Where do you see yourself after college?
Conroy: I'd love to get into coaching. Basketball specifically.
GS: How have you seen yourself change since coming into college two years ago, both as a player and personally?
Conroy: Just maturing. Obviously coming in as a freshman and not knowing much, you learn all the concepts and what it takes to be a college athlete. I've needed a lot more balance personally too because everyday is such a busy day.
GS: What would you say is your biggest passion off the court?
Conroy: Fishing. I love to fish.
GS: What was the experience of going to the big dance last year like for you?
Conroy: That was a dream come true. Especially with my dad, that was really cool.
GS: This is the first team your dad has coached you on. What has that been like for you?
Conroy: It's really cool. We have a really cool relationship where he doesn't really need to say something to me, we just kind of understand each other.
GS: What are you most looking forward to contributing to the team this year?
Conroy: Just helping people out when they're down. Keeping them positive and bringing some experience for the new guys.
