Minnesota and Boston College skated to a 2-2 overtime tie in Nashville, Tenn., on Friday afternoon.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Taylor Wente and Grace Zumwinkle scored goals and Sydney Scobee made 27 saves for the Maroon & Gold as the No. 1 University of Minnesota women's hockey team skated to a 2-2 overtime tie with No. 8 Boston College in game one of the Country Classic at the Nashville Predators' Ford Ice Center Bellevue on Friday afternoon.
Minnesota (13-1-3, 9-1-2-1 WCHA) came from behind to tie the game twice as the Gophers allowed a pair of short-handed goals.
Wente evened the score at 1-1 just 54 seconds after Delaney Belinska scored shorthanded for the Eagles at the 14:26 mark of the opening period, and Zumwnkle scored on the power play midway through the third period after Kelly Browne had given Boston College (11-3-2, 10-3-1 Hockey East) the lead late in the second period, but the game ultimately ended in a 2-2 overtime tie.

"A really good hockey game here tonight, I'm really proud of our team," head coach Brad Frost said. "They played really well in particular in the third, outshooting BC 15-1 and then 4-1 in the overtime. We had some great chances, hit some pipes. Their goaltender played great, but both teams just played really hard. It was a really good hockey game. We're looking forward to playing Harvard tomorrow."
