WCHA Honors Gophers Duo

Sydney Scobee and Grace Zumwinkle have earned WCHA Player of the Week awards for their performances against Wisconsin.
MINNEAPOLIS -- Senior Sydney Scobee is this week's WCHA Goaltender of the Week and junior Grace Zumwinkle has been selected as WCHA Forward of the Week after the No. 1 University of Minnesota women's hockey team took five-of-six league points from then top-ranked Wisconsin last weekend.
On the way to her second WCHA Goaltender of the Week award of the season, Scobee made a career-high 63 saves on 67 shots faced against Wisconsin. Scobee tied her season high with 31 saves on 33 shots faced in the Gophers' 4-2 win in game one. She followed up with a season-high 32 saves on 34 shots faced in the team's 2-2 overtime tie in game two. Scobee made one save in the shootout to help the Gophers to a 1-0 shootout win and extra point in the league standings.
The Minnetrista, Minn., native ranked third in the WCHA with a .940 save percentage and a 1.92 goals against average over the weekend. Her 63 saves were second in the league and her 67 shots faced were tied for second. Scobee and the Gophers held the Badgers to just four goals in two games after Wisconsin entered the series averaging 6.00 goals per game.
Zumwinkle has earned her second-straight WCHA Forward of the Week award after leading Minnesota with four points on two goals and two assists against the Badgers. In Minnesota's 4-2 win in game one, Zumwinkle scored the go-ahead goal for the Gophers, making it 2-1 midway through the second period, and netted the eventual game-winner with her 11th goal of the season at the 4:51 mark of the third period. In the team's 2-2 overtime tie in game two, Zumwinkle assisted both of Minnesota's goals; she led all players with eight shots on goal in game two.
For the weekend, Zumwinkle was tied for third in the league with four points; she led the league with 14 shots on goal for the weekend. Her two-goal effort was tied for second in the league, and her two-assist performance was tied for seventh in the WCHA. Zumwinkle's four-point effort brought her to 99 career points (53g-46a). She is on a team-best six-game point streak, and she leads Minnesota with eight multi-point games on the season.
