Gopher cornerbacks coach is one of only three Big Ten coaches in the group
University of Minnesota cornerbacks coach Rod Chance was selected by the AFCA as one of 35 coaches to be honored as part of their elite 35 Under 35 program.
The program is aimed at identifying and developing premier, future leaders in the football coaching profession. Honorees are invited to attend a one-day institute that features a curriculum of interactive lectures focused on topics specifically tailored to emphasize leadership in the coaching profession, ethics, influential responsibilities, career progression and family balance.
Chance, who is in his first year at Minnesota, was one of only three Big Ten coaches recognized. This year, starting corners Coney Durr and Benjamin St-Juste have each broken up nine passes. St-Juste has 39 tackles, while Durr has 27.
Minnesota ranks No. 24 in the nation in team passing efficiency defense at 116.45 and has allowed only 13 passing touchdowns this year. The Gophers have 14 interceptions this year, which is tied for 16th in the nation and allow only 184.9 passing yards per game, which is 11th in the nation.
