Fiser Honored at Minnesota Sports Awards

Sports Minneapolis, the sports marketing arm of Meet Minneapolis, honored Amber Fiser as the 2019 Women's Collegiate Athlete of the Year at the third annual Minnesota Sports Awards.
A committee of sports journalists and sports executives from around the state selected the finalists and winners for each of the awards.
Fiser was the 2019 Big Ten Pitcher of the Year and an NFCA First-Team All-American. She led the Gophers to the Women's College World Series for the first time in the NCAA era pitching every inning in Regional and Super Regional play with a 5-0 record.
The Van Horne, Iowa native finished the season 31-9 with a 1.27 ERA and 346 strikeouts. She ranked third in the NCAA in wins, fifth in strikeouts and 12th in ERA. Her 31 wins on the season is tied for second all-time in program history. She set a school record and matched a conference record after being named Big Ten Pitcher of the Week six times this season.
Tonight's awards gala will be rebroadcast on FSN on Dec. 26, at 7:30 p.m.
