Students: Take a Mental Health Break from Finals with Gopher Basketball
12/13/2019 10:53:00 AM | Men's Basketball
It's that time of year again: Finals week. You've just finished the last of your classes this year, and now it's time to buckle down and get that "A" you've been working towards all year. We here at Gopher Sports just want to remind everyone of some helpful tips for surviving through the week to come!
Tip 1: Psychology Today suggests you should avoid "shoulding" yourself. They recommend not to waste time throughout the week thinking about things you should have done. We feel the same, and suggest you come to the Men's Basketball Game on Sunday Dec. 15. Don't give yourself the opportunity to think you "should've" been there!
Tip 2: Mental Health America suggests you "stay social, but limit social media." We'd argue the same. It's important to stay social and hang with friends, and is there a better way to socialize with friends than supporting the Gophers against Ohio State? We can't see one.
Tip 3: Psych Central recommends you "Don't blow off eating." We couldn't agree more. Food keeps the brain energized and keeps you motivated. Good thing Williams Arena just introduced Northern Taco, Na'cho Average Nacho, and Relish as concession options to help you refuel at the basketball game!
Tip 4: The National Alliance on Mental Illness advises "making a study schedule," and we concur. Making a study schedule will be incredibly helpful in keeping you on track. Just make sure you schedule around the Ohio State bout, we wouldn't want you to miss that!
Tip 5: LeadMN advocates to "move around" and be active as a way to re-energize your mind. Staying active and getting exercise releases endorphins stimulating and calming the mind. Our favorite activity is jumping around and being rowdy supporting our Gophers! It's pretty fun, we recommend you give it a try this Sunday.
Good luck on your finals and Go Gophers!
