Gophers Take in First Day of NCAA Championships

Lights, camera, action! The Golden Gopher volleyball program has a crazy, busy and fun day at the NCAA Championships here in Pittsburgh, Wednesday, December 18, 2019. Minnesota was the last team to practice today. However, before they hit the court for their first Final Four practice, the team had a busy media day.

As the team arrived to PPG Paints Arena, the Golden Gophers hit the ground running with ESPN interviews, photo shoots and in-venue promotions. Following the one-on-one time with ESPN, head coach Hugh McCutcheon, Alexis Hart and CC McGraw met with attending media for press conferences and media availability. As some were participating in the press conference, others were helping with a community service project for Sister Friend, a local non-profit organization designed to help girls and women in need.

After a quick lunch, it was time for the Gophers to hit the court for the first time. Minnesota held an open practice at 2:55 p.m. Following practice, it was a quick trip to the hotel as the Gophers showered and got ready for the welcome banquet at the Carnegie Science Center.

A full, but fun day as the Gophers kicked off the championship! Time to rest up, prepare and get ready for tomorrow's match. Minnesota takes on Stanford tomorrow at 8:30 p.m., CT or 30 minutes following the Baylor/Wisconsin match. Catch the Gophers on ESPN tomorrow night or on KFAN +
