The Minnesota Men's Gymnastics team has added Noah Duran to the 2020-21 signing class, the team announced Monday.

A Katy, Texas native, Duran currently competes for Champion Gymnastics Academy and is a senior at Cinco Ranch High School. He has been a Region 3 Elite Team member and five-time JE national qualifier.

"I'm really excited about the future of Gopher Gymnastics with Noah Duran's decision to become a Golden Gopher next year," head coach Mike Burns said. "Noah comes to us at Minnesota from an exceptional club program in Katy, TX called Champions Gymnastics. World and National champions make up the core of their coaching staff and we know Noah has been trained by some of the best in the business."

Duran competes all-around and has had great success nationally and in his home state of Texas in the past couple of years. He placed sixth on pommel horse at the 2019 JO Nationals and also placed sixth all-around and fourth on parallel bars at regionals. In 2018, he finished fourth all-around at the Texas state meet and had four top-5 finishes: third on rings and fourth on floor, pommel horse and parallel bars.

Noah is also a three-time Academic All-American and National Hispanic Scholar. He has also had the opportunity to train with the Belarusian national team in Minsk.

Duran joins Evan Ng (Chicago, Ill.) in the signing group.

"He's going to bring a lot to the table, especially on several events that we need depth on. He's also going to help continue the culture of excellence that our program is known for," Burns said. "I think he's going to hit the ground running and have an immediate impact on our success."
