Gophers Wrap Up First Spring Tournament

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Senior Muyu Wu carded the lowest 54-hole score by any Gopher in two years, finishing tied for ninth as the Moon Golf Invitational concluded Tuesday at Duran Golf Club.
Wu (66-73-73ā212), who tied a school record with her 6-under par opening round, was among a four-way tie at 4-under par for the tournament. Her three-round score of 212 is tied for the third-lowest in program history, and she is the first to reach that mark in two years after Emie Peronnin did so at the 2017 Big Ten Championship.
The Gophers finished the team competition tied for 12th place (291-296-297ā884). Sophomore Grace Kellar (73-75-74ā222) tied for 47th at 8-over par, while classmate Joanne Free (76-75-74ā225) tied for 60th three strokes behind. Freshman Karen Zhang finished in 72nd place (76-76-76ā228) while one stroke back of her was sophomore Kate Lillie (77-73-79ā229) in a tie for 73rd place.
Competing as an individual was freshman Alayna Eldred, who finished in 83rd place (85-76-75ā236).
UCF claimed the team title (286-283-280ā849) while host Louisville's Lauren Hartlage (69-67-70ā206) earned medalist honors.
The Gophers will be back in action next week, heading to the West Coast for The Gold Rush at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach, Calif.
