Gophers See Marked Improvement in Second Round at Gold Rush

SEAL BEACH, Calif. - After a challenging opening round, the Minnesota women's golf team shaved 19 strokes off its team score in the second round Monday at The Gold Rush, hosted by Long Beach State at Old Ranch Country Club.
Sophomore Kate Lillie leads the way for the Gophers, as she is tied for 42nd at 9-over par (78-75ā153). One stroke behind her is senior Muyu Wu (80-74ā154), who is tied for 49th place. Sophomore Joanne Free (81-75ā156) and freshman Karen Zhang (82-74ā156) are tied for 59th place, while sophomore Grace Kellar is one stroke behind the duo tied for 63rd (78-79ā157).
In the team standings, Minnesota (317-298ā615) is tied for 13th place. San Jose State (288-290ā578) leads the way with the Spartans' Abegail Arevalo (70-67ā137) in first place individually.
The final round of the Gold Rush commences Tuesday morning with an 8:00 a.m. PT shotgun start.
