Field Set for 2019 WCHA Final Faceoff

The WCHA postseason tournament returns to Ridder Arena on March 9-10.

MINNEAPOLIS -- The 2019 WCHA Final Faceoff field is set as regular-season conference champion and No. 1 seed Minnesota is joined by No. 2 seed Wisconsin, No. 3 seed Ohio State, and No. 4 seed Minnesota Duluth to compete for the league's postseason crown at Ridder Arena next weekend.
 
WCHA regular-season champion Minnesota advanced straight to the WCHA Final Faceoff while Wisconsin, Ohio State, and Minnesota Duluth each swept their WCHA First Round best-of-three series over St. Cloud State, Minnesota State, and Bemidji State, respectively, to move on to the WCHA Final Faceoff.
  
Two semifinal games are scheduled for 2:07 p.m. CT and 5:07 p.m. CT Saturday, March 9. No. 1 seed Minnesota (29-4-1) takes on No. 4 seed Minnesota Duluth (15-15-4) in the first semifinal while No. 2 seed Wisconsin (30-4-2) will face No. 3 seed Ohio State (20-12-2) in the second semifinal.
 
The two semifinal winners will play Sunday, March 10 at 2:07 p.m. CT for the WCHA playoff championship and an automatic berth into the 2019 NCAA Tournament. Sunday's championship game will air live on FOX Sports North and FOX Sports Wisconsin along with being streamed online via FOX Sports Go.

The field includes a trio of nationally-ranked teams in No. 1 Minnesota, No. 2 Wisconsin, and No. 10 Ohio State.

The Gophers are making their 20th-consecutive appearance in the semifinals after clinching the regular season title and the Julianne Bye Cup on the final weekend of the regular season. The Badgers, who share the WCHA record of seven league playoff championships with Minnesota, are playing in their ninth-straight WCHA Final Faceoff.

The Buckeyes are making back-to-back Final Faceoff semifinal appearances for the first time in program history and are seeking their first Final Faceoff title. The Bulldogs return to the Final Faceoff for the first time since in 2017. The Bulldogs won their fifth, and most recent, Final Faceoff championship in 2010.

The league's showcase event and the best weekend of the year for women's college hockey fans, the three-day 2019 WCHA Final Faceoff will mark the culmination of the league's 20th anniversary celebration.
